Browsers, FireFox and/or Opera
« on: June 13, 2010, 04:58:22 PM »
I have been a die-hard FireFox guy for years.

I was/am having issues with bandwidth.  My package gives me 1,200 kBps down.  When torrenting about 400 to 500 kBps down, FireFox gives me way too many timeouts, and try again options.

Got PO'd enough,, and finally tried Opera.  Man, I can be downloading 800-kBps, and still cruise the net.

I thinking I could get to like this new-to-me browser...

P.S.  yes I have tweaked the "about-config" in FireFox several times, with no better results.

OK, scoundrel this maybe should of been in the Sandbox...

One of the few things I've learnt as growing older.  Is to choose your battles.. but never loose sight of the war..!

Yeah, I go back and forth. Years ago I used to be a die-hard Opera user. But now I can't live without all the addons in Firefox. But it's all the frigging addons that slow it down! So a little bit of a catch-22.
But Opera Mini (mobile phone browser) is top notch.

LOL,, pick a section, any section will do!

I don't think this is too far off the matter at hand.

Opera is one of those browsers that I HAVE to use to check my HTML for defects. If my HTML is in any way, wrong or messed up, Opera will point it out to me.

Like you I've used FF for some years but now I find Iron, the version of Chromium without the snooping, much faster than FF.

Must give Opera a tryout if you're getting those kbs downloading while surfing. Sounds good.

When in bandwith troubles you could try the simple "links-graphic" to see at least the text information.
