KDE4 Menu Color?
« on: June 13, 2010, 02:00:14 PM »
This is today's dumb question I suppose. How do I change the colors in the KDE4 start menu?.

I have tried umpteen themes and settings and the only thing that won't change is the dull gray menu with black text.
This should be a simple task, it was in KDE3 but no where do I see the settings for this. I have tried all options and Google is a washout.

Go to configure your desktop,(this is the screwdriver+wrench without the blue circle icon), then Look and Feel/ Appearance/Colors/.
I have mine set on Wonton Soup..It looks pretty good to me.

Also, while in Look-and-Feel.  Colours, colours, Window Background.  Though once you do that, you might have to change the colour on Window Text.

Thanks for the tip but I already tried all those settings and a zillion theme downloads later no nearer sadly.
All that does is mess up my current theme by changing all the other settings. I just need to tweak the menu and menu text colors and leave all the others alone. Maybe a pointer to the config file where I can change some individual values...

I feel your pain...

I will agree that kde3 was easier there.

BUT, once I get a desktop looking mostly like I like, I save it as a theme.  So then if I smuck it up down the line, I can always go back to one that worked.

I had to tweak a lot of stuff to get my desktop close to what I want.  Once I get there, I will do a remaster, to save all the work...

/home/<user>/.kde4/share/config/colors
