System info on desktop
« on: June 12, 2010, 09:20:18 PM »
Test drove Damn Small Linux for a bit, not enough stuff for my taste but....

On the desktop there was a read out of things like-

Disk Space
Memory usage
CPU Speed
and others

How do I put this on a PCLOS desktop running LXDE or E17? TinyMe also had this feature.

Thanks for your help.

I think you're talking about torsmo.
PCLOS doesn't have it but has conky which is based on torsmo.
You can find it in Synaptic.

Conky is what I was looking for.
How do I make it transparent or at least blend in with my wallpaper. Right now I just have a black thing giving me all kinds of info but blocking my wallpaper.
Can I edit the info it gives me. It has a list of all processes running and I don't need that.

Also Gkrellm is very similar.

Thanks for your help

You're welcome.
You could just use GKrellM it has endless configuration options, themes, fonts, etc. I'm sure you could get GKrellM looking real nice.
Enjoy.
