No Xfwm4
« on: June 12, 2010, 09:04:40 PM »
I installed task-xfce from synaptic the other day and I finally have my desktop set up the way I like it. But I want to crank up the speed so I turned off compiz in the pclinux control center and when I logged back in I have no xfwm4!

None of the windows have borders!

Any help?
make install --not war

Hello!
First do you have tried running xfwm4 from console (terminal emulator)?
Next check that xfwm4 is installed using synaptic-> Installed packages.

Lee2010,

As you have been using compiz - which has its own window manager - Try going to the XFCE settings manager select window manager and choose a style.

Speedvin: Yes it works when I run it from a terminal

Hottiegibbon: When I go to XFCE settings manager - window manager all I get is a blank window. I'll attach a screenshot

Delete xfce configuration in your home directory...

I've been having this same problem, too over the last few days.  I just looked through my home folder and turned on the "show hidden files" option, but I couldn't see anything in there that sounds like the proper file or folder to delete.
