wifi card on/off (solved)
« on: June 11, 2010, 09:46:47 AM »
Hello,

Am trying to find a command to turn the wifi card off when not in use
similar to the Fn-F2 command in Windows.  Tried "ifconfig wlan0 down"
but it didn't work.  Is there a network manager that has this command
built in ?

Thanks,

Patrick

There has to be a better way to get this thing on and off.   I'll
never get these console commands and scripts to work right.

Well, I have a Fujitsu Siemens laptop and Fn+F2 works here in PCLinuxOS 2009 fully updated, in a couple of weeks I'm gonna install 2010. See this thread http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,65958.0.html

This has been solved.   The keys need to be pressed down one at a time
not at the same time.  When doing so the Wlan0 goes on and off.

Thanks,

Patrick
