googy, if you use pclinuxos control center, go to Network & Internet, there you'll see "remove a connection", that's the one to use so remove the wireless one, restart your computer and try to configure your connection again.

Hope this help :)

Thanks to all for the help.  Had to re-install PCLOS - Faster than a fix here.

BTW - Is this really (SOLVED)???

I remain curious as to whether wireless settings can be retained so that one can roam with laptop without screwing up another existing profile?????

Not changing wireless networks again unless have LiveCD handy.

Here is what I'm asking, again. Do you plug an ethernet cable into the laptop? It appears you are using both an ethernet cable and your wireless connection.

That's OK. I just wanted to be sure my eyes weren't deceiving me. I'm glad you finally got everything working.

Thanks djohnston, yes it's working but i still don't know if it's possible to save the configuration for further use. Is there a file or something that can be saved and re-used later on ?

Here's the deal. You have two ways to connect to the internet using your laptop. You can connect by plugging in an ethernet cable like you're doing now. You can also connect to a wireless router or access point if the ethernet is unplugged. You don't really need both ways at the same time. Once each device is set up, you can switch between them using your network icon. The devices are probably ath0 (wireless) and eth0 (wired). You should have hotplugging enabled in the networking setup wherever it's an option. It's a pretty simple task to switch between even different wireless networks, as long as you can gain access. In other words, some networks will require a user name and password in order to connect.

I'm guessing, again, because you haven't provided a whole lot of details about how and where you're trying to use the wireless. I'm guessing you want to take the laptop to work and/or home and be able to connect to a wireless network. If you can set your wireless connection up and connect, then you can easily do it again from the desktop.

The problem is that if i disconnect the laptop from my power source and i don't have the battery in the laptop, i lose my wireless connection meaning that it doesn't keep the configuration so that when i connect the laptop back to the power source i have to reconfigure the wireless connection again and sometimes it's not working, the last time it took me like 3 days to finally make it work.

I guess that if i have to disconnect the laptop from the power source i'll have to put the battery pack on the laptop so that i don't lose the wireless configuration. I'm always using the wireless at home unless it's not working. I understand that the problem is mainly from not using the battery pack on the laptop when i disconnect it from the power source.
