Okay, this is only my second-ever post on this Forum, wonderful, informative place that it is, so I'm a little nervous, but here goes.

Maybe it's only me that couldn't get k3b to start at all, but I figured that in case any other newbie-ish people like me had the same issue, I'd share my little bit of
knowledge. Anyway, I installed k3b via Synaptic, then clicked on it under 'Archiving'...and nothing happened. So I thought, "Hmm, I'll try typing 'k3b' into GNOME Terminal,
and maybe there'll be an error message telling me what went wrong. There was indeed! Turns out that I needed to install 6 different Qt3 libraries via Synaptic, one at a time,
every time I'd go up-arrow and enter to try starting k3b again. k3b needed "libQt3Support.so.4", for example, and I searched in Synaptic for "Qt3", and found "libqt3support4",
which definitely seemed like the same thing under a different filename, so I installed it, and so on with the other 5 missing Qt3 libraries [full list below].
When I'd installed the 6th one, success! Well, aside from about a million repeats of a few incomprehensible error messages in GNOME Terminal, but k3b
did open and
work flawlessly, so maybe that's all that counts?!

So the needed Qt3 libraries are:
libqt3support4
libqtnetwork4
libqtxml4
libqtcore4
libqtgui4
libqtsql4
I'm running PCLinuxOS GNOME 2010, upgraded to kernel 2.6.32.14-pclos1.bfs, and version 1.92.0 of k3b. Here's hoping this helps someone else!

My apologies if this topic has already been covered somewhere else that I didn't see. Should I add "[solved]" to the end of my subject line, anyone?
