HOW I SOLVED ALL PULSE AUDIO ISSUES.

          OK, I'm running Xfce4 fully updated including the packages in "Testing" LOL. These package recommendations I found Googling until my fingers started to bleed.LOL. My most severe problem was my "Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 Mic not working in Skype. In addition, I could not keep my volume on an even keel.Below List includes the Five Packages I installed in Synaptic. BTW, these Packages also solved my volume playback issue watching, TVland.com and hulu.com.

          In no special order.
1) psdevchooser
2) pavucontrol
3) pulseaudio-module-lirc
4) avahi
5) avahi-dnsconfd

           BTW, packages 1-3 I found googling. Packages 4 & 5 I was told in an error message after rebooting, that they were required. The end result is, all my pulse audio issues were resolved with the above five packages.

           My pertinent Hardware:

Video Card: Nvidia 6200 AGP
Sound Card: Turtle Beach Catalina - VIA 1724 (HT-S)
Webcam: Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000

         My Sound is now every bit as Good, if not better,
than when I was using the BLOATED KDE 4. LOL.

Now I have sound in Skype - in Zen mini, just by installing the first two.
