[Solved] Change cursor theme in ZenMini
« on: June 08, 2010, 10:04:30 AM »
I've just installed Zen and am impressed with it so far.  I cannot find a way to change the cursor theme though after perusing all the menus and have done a forum search.
The mouse config in the menu doesn't offer cursor theme changes as I can tell.
And is there a way to add 'set as desktop background' in the image right click context menu?
Anyone know how?

Try System->Preferences->Appearance and then click the Customize box at the bottom and then select the pointer tab. There are some choices there.

That's it wlake..........thanks a whole heap.
In the meantime, I had installed aero and wonderland from the repo, and all of a sudden the cursor theme apparently changed to aero on it's on; without a reboot.  So it changes on the fly.
Any idea on the background question?
Thanks again!

Hi,
I think background is in one of the menus when you right click in any empty place on the desktop.

Hi, melodie.........yes, it is in the context menu when right clicking the desktop, but I was looking for it in the Nautilus 2.30 right click menu.  So when you're in the file browser, the user can right click an image and set  the image as desktop background which is the case in Gnome and KDE.  Sorry I didn't phrase the question correctly.

For the right click, I think you will need to add a nautilus script. Here is a link to an example, http://vishah.blogspot.com/2007/04/nautilus-script-to-set-image-as-desktop.html. I have not tried it myself, I just add images to the appearance  backgrounds tab. You could google nautilus scripts set background and get other examples, I would think.

If you check out pclinuxos tweak it has a good many options to use with zen/pclos gnome desktop.
It is already included in pclos gnome.  And a good many scripts also and the one you are referring
to is  the  "set image as wallpaper" is included there.

PCLinuxOS Tweak -> Personal -> Scripts -> Set image as wallpaper

Thanks to everyone that helped with this question.  I have successfully changed the cursor icon theme and added the Nautilus script for desktop background.  So all is good.  I am really enjoying my ZenMini!
I will modify the post to 'solved'.
