Trying out PCLinuxOS KDE since unhappy with Mandriva 2010.1...installed on two different Dell laptops...
So far seems nice other than a couple of X crashes on one laptop, but on neither laptop is the KDE session info being stored, so each time I logout or reboot, all my standard applications like konsole and konqueror that I always want open have to be restarted. Very annoying!
I thought it might be some setting I had changed in KDE (as I changed many), but when I create a new user and make no configuration changes, I get the same behavior. If I logout of KDE and use a console to rename ~/.kde4, when I log back into KDE (and a new ~/.kde4 is of course created), session info does get properly saved. However, this base configuration is hideously ugly/unusable, and I hardly want to spend the time figuring out how to get it back to being usable. Still, these experiments suggest that something in the default PCLinuxOS KDE4 user configuration is to blame.
Any ideas? Thanks!
