[SOLVED] Strange Video Issue(s)
« on: June 06, 2010, 09:31:56 PM »
I am currently updating a friends machine

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ 3 Ghz
2 gig memory
GeForce 7300LE
DVD with Lightscribe
2-250 Gig SataII Hard drives.

PCLinuxOS 2010.1 with 2.6.33.5-pclos1.bfs updated

When I hover over the PC Button in the task bar I get the following. (see attached) I thought that this was being caused by bad video. I removed the driver and reinstalled, and have removed the video card and replaced it with an ATI Radeon 7500. Nothing so far has changed how it looks when you hover over the button. I went as far as to go back to the original kernel, of course this did not help either.  Than it dawned on me that this is the only one that looks this way when hovering.  My question is this a graphic image that is being displayed when hovering over the icons in the task bar?  If so could this be a corrupted image?  And if it could be, where would one find that image so it could be fixed?  Thanks for any and all help........................

update - I just tried creating a different user and logging into that account and if I hoover over the PC icon it displays fine.  I am assuming that is an issue in the .kde4 folder.  Would/will it be safe to remove that folder and let the system recreate it?

Rename it and see. If it messes other stuff up you can just rename it back.
