OpenOffice download and install problems [solved]
« on: June 06, 2010, 01:34:48 PM »
The 'Get Openoffice' script fails to install the downloaded rpms. It claims, that not all packages could be retrieved from the internet.
A single rpm is in the partial directory in the apt-archives. I copied it over into  /var/cache/apt/archives and made a rpm -ivh *rpm. All rpms were installed, but when the partial rpm was installed I got the following output:
Fehler: Entpacken des Archivs fehlgeschlagen bei Datei /opt/openoffice.org/basis3.2/program/components/libmork.so;4c0bf312: cpio: read

It means, an error has occurred while unpacking/opening the archive of file /opt/openoffice.org/basis3.2/program/components/libmork.so;4c0bf312: cpio: read.

The rpm that seems to be incomplete and/or flawed is ooobasis3.2-core07.
I have gone through the process twice with the same results.

Any chance to download the rpm by hand? OpenOffice refuses to start. I have entries in the LXDE menu, however the icons are missing (I have standard application icons instead).

When starting Synaptic I got a message, that the dependencies of ten packages on the system are broken. I uninstalled the packages.

I don't want to download all the stuff again, since my data plan reduces bandwidth after an amount of traffic.

PS: Ok, found the repo path in the 'Get Openoffice' script. Installed everything manually and it works so far.
Just in case someone else stumbles over this prob...  :-\
PS2: Just a detail concerning the icons: Copy the OpenOffice icons from /usr/share/icons/gnome/48x48/apps into /usr/share/icons, log out and log in. The icons are there.
