Where is the setting to name built rpms to iX86 or athlon

Currently rpms built are named as i586. Where is this setting to change to i686, athlon, or something else? I've tried several places in rpmrc and macros, but probably missed it.

rpm -ba --target athlon name-of-specfile

thanks, but where is the actual default setting? I think it's in rpmrc or macros but not sure where or if it's in a sub directory.
