There is a big issue when trying to boot the LiveCD on a ATI Radeon Xpress 200M fitted box, such as my HP Compaq nx6325 laptop. Halfway the bootprocess, just before displaying the KDE4 GUI, it freezes completely on a black screen. Only a hard reset can get you out of it.
When booting in VESA mode, the same problem occurs but this time, the systems falls through to a console where you can try to fix the problem.
You have to log in as root, with the password root
Then running the 'drakconf' program, you can select the video option in the menu. You will notice that the video card is not recognized at all !!!. Select the ATI Radeon X1950 and earlier, save and close the program.
Back on the root prompt, type 'startx' and the Live CD boot process will continue.
I hope that this issue will be dealt with, as it is a famous showstopper for new users.
