LXDE: ~/.xsession-errors
« on: June 04, 2010, 05:41:40 PM »
Hi, I'm using LXDE since yesterday. I quite impressed with it (its speed and stability).
I just took a look at my .xsession-errors file. Everything seems to be ok, except of the last line:
/usr/bin/xhost:  bad hostname "localhost"

I have to add, that the hostname of the machine isn't localhost anymore.
Is this a serious thing and what can I do about it?
I noticed some heavy lag when launching XMMS, which I've installed with Synaptic and with OpenArena, too.

XMMS lags when launched in KDE4 too, but works very well once its fully opened. Haven't figured out why yet, but even with the lag, it's still my favorite.

I wouldn't worry about the localhost error in .xsession-errors, probably happened while finding the new hostname.

Of what use be there for joy, if not for the sharing thereof?

bad hostname "localhost"

Nothing to worry over in that.

So there is nothing to worry.
The lag matter, well, I'm going to have a look at it, since it didn't occur on PCLOS Gnome, at least with OpenArena.

I must say, that I'm extremely pleased with PCLOS-LXDE. Still some edges here and there, but nothing that cannot be fixed. I'm happy, thanks.  ;D

I noticed some heavy lag when launching XMMS ...

I use Audacious for playing MP3 and WAV files, also for audio CD's occasionally. It opens very quickly. I prefer it over XMMS. Check the available plugins before installing. XMMS has a diskwriter plugin, Audacious does not.

Works great and has random play.
