thinkpad X100e - xorg setting question
« on: June 02, 2010, 07:00:37 AM »
I have been testing PCL on a thinkpad X100e hoping i can dual boot with Win7 Pro. All of the live CDs ( put on usb sticks) drop into the command line because of an Xorg error:

given depth (8) is not supported by fglrx driver
preinit visual failed

there are also several lines to the effect:

(ww) fglrx: No matching device section for instance (Bus ID PCI: 0@0:17:0 {these numbers vary}))

I found that if i confgure manually by choosing generic 1366x768 the problem goes away.
If I install, will i have to do this every time i boot up?

No, id be VERY surprised if it happened each boot.

If you do have any issues after the installation just post the problem and I'm fairly certain it would be resolved

Edit: BTW, do you get this problem booting from a LiveCD (not USB)

Surprise Surprise Surprise

Once you have a correct xorg.conf file, it should boot into the proper resolution and depth.
