LXDE dragging files question. (ANSWERED)
« on: June 01, 2010, 06:48:42 PM »
When I started exploring LXDE I found that moving files form one place to another by dragging from one PCMAN window to another always copied.  Fine I thought, that's the way it works, I can always deleted from the original location afterwards.  But suddenly I discover that this operation moved the files - I nearly lost one this way.  How do you control this behaviour

How does one become a hero?  By asking a lot of dumb questions apparently! I have three computers of various ages, the most powerful is a Dell Netbook 10v; each has 2 or 3 versions of PCLOS of various vintages.  Location, St John's, Newfoundland.

When you wish to copy a file, right-click > copy, then right-click > paste. For moving, drag and drop will do it.
Exception: Drag and drop between user directories and root directories always copies.

Thanks Neal, that explains it, it's always good to know the rules.
