[SOLVED] to remove Klipper
« on: May 31, 2010, 05:05:20 PM »
I did a search on "remove klipper" and only two hits, and neither had what I wanted.

It used to be we click on don't start, and it was gone.  Now when I right-click on it and click on exit, it doesn't ask me if it should start again.  I reboot, and it is back again.

Would like it gone for good.... anyone have the solution...?

It's probably started from a .desktop file in /usr/share/autostart.

sammy2fish, when I right click the klipper and click on "Quit", I can see clearly the option to "not start" and "dont ask again" options??  Are you sure you don't have these options when you right click and end the proc?

When I click on Quit it is gone, with no frame having questions as to it's purpose in the future....

So I remove that line, or....

It's called /usr/share/autostart/klipper.desktop

Rename it to something stoopid and see if it stops on login. ??

EDIT: That's not really the fix but it might work. LOL

Have you looked in "Configure Your Desktop/Advanced User Settings/Autostart"  It might be in that setting  ??? ???

EDIT: I originally typed "Configure Your Computer"  "Configure Your Desktop" is what I meant. sorry.

klipper is part of kde, it is not in the autostart menu or in the file itself afik, it is a service loaded by kde on start

if i remember properly when you do what sammy2fish says the app stays closed permanently

i did this accidentally on kde3 a couple of years ago but discovered that i need it alot so i had to find how to load it again

what i usually do is disable actions on the menu

also in the menu i set it to not remember anything when i close session

That all sounds fine and dandy.  But I figure that maybe with all my tweaking, I maybe borked this option.

I have enough gray-matter that I don't need history in Klipper, or Recent-documents to help me through the day.

Rudge, you had me squinting my eyes.  You meant Configure your desktop/.....:-)  But here's my place as you wanted, but not what you wanted, I think...

T6, I meant nothing bad concerning you.  You're alright.

I'm a bit of a control freak, and don't like a computer nagging me about anything.  That's why I would just like this Klipper thing to go away...

I wouldn't just rename it. If it remains in the global autostart directory the system would try to start it anyway. If you don't want to delete it, move it out of that folder. (By the way, I find it a very useful application.)
