LXDE update OOO quickstart gone. (SOLVED)
« on: May 30, 2010, 02:49:29 PM »
That more or less says it all: after I updated LXDE this weekend the Openoffice (GO-OO version) quickstarter in the systray has vanished.

How does one become a hero?  By asking a lot of dumb questions apparently! I have three computers of various ages, the most powerful is a Dell Netbook 10v; each has 2 or 3 versions of PCLOS of various vintages.  Location, St John's, Newfoundland.

Have you tried re-enabling it in OOo? (Tools > Options > Memory)
PCLinuxOS 32bit KDE 4.10.1; kernel-3.4.11-pclos1.bfs & 64bit 3.2.18bfs; NVidia GeForce 8400GS 1GB 310.19 driver

I had looked to see that it was still enabled, and it was so I did nothing.  However,  if I uncheck it close and reopen OOo and then recheck it it comes back.  Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

By the way, isn't the "memory" tag an odd place for this?  It must be a GO-OO addition as it's not there in the vanilla version of OOo.

Yeah, sorry should've mentioned the restart - sometimes (when its being "contrary"), it even needs the desktop restarting.

The memory field is a strange place to put it, but they've added other "speed-up" options in that area so I guessed it seemed the place for it. BUT that doesn't make it the correct place for it!  ::)

Losing the quickstart a few times I put it the hard way

in terminal:

[user@localhost ~]$ su root
Password:
[root@localhost user]# leafpad /etc/xdg/lxsession/LXDE/autostart

add:

openoffice.org3 -quickstart -nologo -nodefault
