Laptop battery monitor required
« on: May 15, 2010, 05:13:35 PM »
Am not too keen on the battery-monitor panel-plugin; it doesn't give any indication of the actual battery-state and seems to me to be pretty inaccurate. Is there another, more finely tuned one available (haven't managed to identify one in the repos)? Thanks.

Thanks, scoundrel, I've already done as you suggest. I'm think the monitor's pretty useless because it (or, mine, at least) tells me permanently that the battery is 100% full and doesn't give me any warning that the battery's about to go awol.  >:( >:(

I'm using wmlaptop from the control line.  At present I get an error message but it works, and if you do it as user it vanishes along with the terminal when you exit.  It's not well designed as a fixture as it hogs 64 pixels on the LHS of the screen and won't let any other windows into that strip, so don't try it as root - it won't go away.  Not as good as klaptop in KDE 3.5 though.
How does one become a hero?  By asking a lot of dumb questions apparently! I have three computers of various ages, the most powerful is a Dell Netbook 10v; each has 2 or 3 versions of PCLOS of various vintages.  Location, St John's, Newfoundland.
