Run Plasma on any DE
« on: May 17, 2010, 09:55:30 AM »
THIS IS EXPERIMENTAL!!! DO NOT BLAME ME IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG!

So far this has been tested on LXDE and XFCE. This is a sister project to my FrankenKDE/E17 experiment.

To do this is very simple in LXDE or XFCE just go to run and type in "plasma-desktop" and there you go.

If you don't like it just log out and back in and its gone simple as that.

Can anyone test this out on the other desktop environments?

This doesn't appear to work with a virgin install of LXDE.

Do you have KDE4 installed and updated?

Thank you for the share Lee2010
This worked on KDE4-mini install with task-LXDE installed.

Logout button was unresponsive though.

you might have to add the logout widget in plasma and just use it

Weird   :o  but working in LXDE  ;D
I shall pass this way but once;
any good therefore that I can do,
or any kindness that I can show
let me not defer nor neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.
