I double-clicked My Documents icon on desktop, right-clicked on a .bz2 file, and got the Extract Here option.

OK. Not sure about an rar. Don't have any downloaded on the LXDE box. I did open xarchiver and saw that .rar is not a recognized archive format. You may have to unrar it.

Either Ark or File-Roller will extract rar files once rarlinux is installed. Ark is what puts the extract here right click option in KDE, so could try installing that.

And it comes in kdeutils4-4.4.3-2pclos2010.

File-Roller can be used, and set as the default app but getting the "Extract Here" option on right click,,  ??? ??? I am stumped. I'd love to find the answer too.

File Roller will do the job with rarlinux installed, but other than "Open with File Roller," there will be no right-click menu entry. That is, as far as I know.

Tip: make sure you remove all empty beer bottles laying in the foot-wells.

About the rar file problem, I use unrar from the repo. I am fairly sure it works in lxde.
