it depends on the hardware specs like cpu, ram video card, sound card, ethernet/wifi card

have you done a forum search about this model to see if others had positive or negative experiences with this laptop?

Why not download an ISO and check it out?

Feel free to post more info regarding RAM, CPU and the like - what T6 already suggested. Then we would be able to give you more advice on what desktop to be appropriate for your machine.
Best regards

FYI - I recently installed PCLOS as a dual boot (with Win XP) on my T60P (which I really like) - it works well and boots a lot faster than Windows. Once you get the hang of it installing new software on Linux is a lot easier in Linux (and costs less) than in Windows.

BTW - Thinkpad laptops have been consistently regarded as among the most Linux friendly. Everything (including Wifi) worked right out of the  box for me and took less that 30 mins to install.

Compare that to a recent rebuild that I had to do on my Windows box which came down with a RootKit virus. After reinstallation I was rebooting the m/c for about 3 days while windows applied updates, authorization etc.

If you have the spare disk space - go for it. If you can get a good deal on a T60, go for that too.

Yes, T60's are famous for running really well under Linux. Many people used to buy them specifically because of that.
