PCLOS 2010 KDE

I had a problem with my laptop when I closed my lid and upon reopening, my laptop was locked up.  Searched many forums and tried many different settings, i.e. Compiz on/off, Kwin on/off.   Different power management settings for laptop lid close - Do nothing, turn off screen, suspend, hibernate, etc.  Modified lm_lid.sh, changed kernel boot options, etc.  Nothing seemed to work but I finally did arrive to a FIX and wanted to share in case anyone was experiencing similar problems.

- Suspend and Hibernate worked when activated through the Menu but not when I tried to resume from a closing the lid
- When I had Compiz or Kwin Desktop effects enabled, system would completely hang
- With desktop effects disabled, I was able to somewhat recover by Ctrl-Alt-F1 and then Crtl-Alt-F7 but only a mouse pointer and a message about the Monitor has changed which led me to the following Bug

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=236869

With this, I went into the Service Manager by switching the start menu to the kickoff Menu style, searched for services and selecting the Service Manager program.  There I stopped "Detecting RANDR (monitor) changes" and unchecked the use box.  After that I have had no problems with the lid closing event.

Hope this helps!

Nice!!!

This had me stumped too. I had reverted to Ctrl-Alt-F1 before closing the lid and then Alt-F7 when reopened, but this is much nicer!

Thank you!
