Hi
since doing some pass upgrades over the past week my at rest cpu usage has gone from around 8-15% to 27 - 33% while just running the desktop. I am assuming it may be something upgraded but this is just a guess. Is anyone else experiencing this or does anyone have an idea as to possible causes? A third of processing power before I even do anything seems a touch excessive.
When I run "top" the two at the head of the list are plasma desktop and X together they account for up to 25% of usage followed by compiz at 5%
My system is an AMD X2 5600+ with 8GB of ram on a 2.6.33.4-pclos.pae kernel.
I have done a search and checked out a few things but turned up nothing so any insights offered would be appreciated. Thank you
EDIT: I ended up replacing the .kde4 folder and went back to basics, usage dropped to under 10%, seems like it was probably something I did.
