Hi
Ok, I thought that a "mark all updates" 'apply"  would update the kernel ....how do I update it?
Thanks
Mike

You right click on it in Synaptic and mark it for install then click apply. Then when you reboot you select the new kernel using your up/down arrow keys and the enter key. You need to give it a few minutes on first boot to build new kernel drivers. After that it will boot normally. Then you can log in and play with it for a few days to make sure everything is ok.

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.
