Phoenix is great. I added a few extras, and replaced Xfburn with Gnomebaker, which unmounts a CD before blanking (they are mounted on insertion). I added Cups, Foomatic, Gutenprint & Open Office. Open Office printed all-black pages on my Epson tx550w. Error was 'pstoraster failed'. The fix was to un-install Cups & Cups-common (1.4.3) and get Cups 1.3.11. I installed from source, and all was good. Accessed cups via firefox (127.0.0.1:631). Solved.
*Edit* To increase the number of printers available, I have now uninstalled the gutenprint packages, and installed gutenprint 5.2.5 from source.
