I was able to load http://melodie.toile-libre.org/
After that, I could load http://melodie.toile-libre.org/index.php/pclinuxos-beta1-with-openbox/?lang=en

Next I clicked the "Today" link and this provided a link to the beta2 post, which loaded fine though not quick.

Thanks, did not think of 'stepping'. I am going round picking 0 answers, probably obvious, using LXDE to get a feel for it.  The openbox has come up a few times and I was starting to wonder what it was about. I am a sucker for 'intereting' bits.

Must be a slow connection my patience ran out this time but doing as you said did show action, may come back here another time.

If you've got e17, you'll get a minimal install but will have to pull in everything to build a complete system. Openbox is as light as you can get it since its essentially a window manager than a full-blown desktop environment like LXDE.
