Kickoff Menu Appearance
« on: May 20, 2010, 12:44:05 PM »
I've found something rather weird, which the pictures will hopefully explain better then the words:

On the Correct Kickoff image, you can see all the names on the menu as they should appear.
However, when booting from a LiveCD created from a system with those correct names, they appear as program shortcuts or something.

After installation is done from that same LiveCD, it appears correctly on the installed system.

Is there something i'm doing wrong? or something i need to change to make it appear correct on the LiveCD itself?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Sefi,
I noticed that in your "faulty" screenshot you were operating as root. The difference could be due to that. Often certain display aspects are different in a root environment. I think as a reminder to beware of the dangers of root operations.
Just a guess.
Cheers!

Hi Johnmart, nope, the same thing happen with any user on the livecd, i've also just checked the official livecd using the regular kicker menu, and apparantly the shorted names appear there as well  :-\

Maybe the configuration was changed somehow?
Try right clicking the PC icon, click "Application Launcher Settings", and check/uncheck the box "Show applications by name" to see if it fixes this.

From the installed system it changes between them.
From the ISO it doesn't do any changes, it stays with the application name instead of description
