Customizing loaded modules for eeepc
« on: May 22, 2010, 04:49:47 AM »
I have PCLOS2010 running smoothly on my eeepc900, including desktop effects.  The only thing I continue to notice with PCLOS is that even with the new kernels, the time to boot is much longer than the original customized Xandros install which came with the machine.  So, I am interested in doing some playing around to see if I can improve this a bit by only loading the modules specifically needed for this machine.

I suspect some of this may be due to PCLOS loading modules for hardware that will not be needed for this machine.

How do I determine which modules are being loaded at boot?

How do I determine which modules are actually being used by the machine?

How do I blacklist modules to keep them from being loaded?

Many thanks,

mikkl

You could try PCC (Configure Your Computer) >> System >> Manager System Services by enabling them or disabling them

Have a look at which services you don't need and un-check them (but be a tad careful ) and should help at boot time.
PCLinuxOS 32bit KDE 4.10.1; kernel-3.4.11-pclos1.bfs & 64bit 3.2.18bfs; NVidia GeForce 8400GS 1GB 310.19 driver
