With a flash card in the device, "Bus 001 Device 005: ID 058f:6362 Alcor Micro Corp. Hi-Speed 21-in-1 Flash Card Reader/Writer (Internal/External)", does it show in PCC?

Open PCLOS Control Center, click on Local Disks in left panel, then click Manage disk partitions. Does the inserted flash card show?

lots of card readers are weird, the os always sees it enabled even if there is not a device in it

on linux sometimes you need to boot the pc with the card inserted on the card reader to make it work as the usb device it should be

usually it is easier to just connect the device that uses the card on a usb port and use it as a usb mass storage device, quicker and easier solution for you and also will make last longer the card(some cards break easily, fingernails can open them accidentally)

Hi, try to activate:

SCSI media changer support
Probe all LUNs on each SCSI device
Asynchronous SCSI scanning

From SCSI device support section of the kernel config. Worked for me on 2.6.20

He's talking about re-compiling the kernel for SCSI support. I believe it is already enabled in the current kernel.

Hi,

How do i mount a cardreader?

You do not mount the reader ......  you mount an inserted card .......  which should happen automatically as a removable device.

Plug a card into the reader and then do  lsusb

What kind of card are you using?  .....  full specs would be good

Is this a new card to this reader?

Reason I ask is that some readers were limited in what they would accept.

It appears your reader is not reporting the presence of the card at all.

I only have a small MMC card to test in my reader, but it does show it containing a partition

and that is reflected in PCC Hardware.

Code: [Select]
Identification
Vendor: ‎Samsung

Description: ‎SD Card   MMC/SD

Disk identifier: ‎Samsung SD Card   MMC/SD

Media class: ‎hd

Bus identification
Vendor ID: ‎0x055d

Target id number: ‎0x3021

Connection
Bus: ‎SCSI

Channel: ‎0

Logical unit number: ‎2

Target id number: ‎0x3021

Device
Old device file: ‎/dev/sdf

Partitions
Primary partitions: ‎1 (sdf1)

Misc
Geometry: ‎980/2/32 (CHS)

Disk controller: ‎6

Module: ‎usb_storage

Until the card is 'seen' it cannot be mounted, and the fdisk output does not show it being present.

If you can find some info on the capabilities of the reader for different types and sizes of card that might be helpful in determining where the problem lies ........  in the reader, card or OS.

regards.

One other thought .........  is this an internal or external reader?

If external this is easy, if internal not so ......

Unplug the card reader from the USB port, wait a little while, and with the card inserted into the reader plug it back in again.

It may be the OS ignoring the reader for some reason, and if so then this should cause it to speak to the reader again.

regards.
