Dolphin Weirdness
« on: May 20, 2010, 11:17:40 AM »
Dolphin is fairly full featured but it seems to have its eccentricities.

While working with files it may or may not update to reflect files added or files deleted.
Konqueror also shows the same behaviour.

Shutting down Dolphin and starting a new instance will cause it to show the correct contents of a directory that previously it refused to update ......  even by splitting and navigating about.

This gets very wearisome when working with lots of files.

Any ideas?

I normally put the "Reload" icon into the main toolbar and using that then does a refresh.

Settings >> Configure Toolbar > add icon

On a side note - i've found a small "anomaly" inasmuch, if you right click on the toolbar itself and select Configure Toolbar, it defaults to the search toolbar, whereas if you use the above method it goes to the "Main Toolbar

Thanks menotou .......  that hopefully is a workaround .........  but there must be something wrong if sometimes it updates and other times it doesn't.   ???

Ideally I would like to fix the problem.

Good ......  but why should you need to?

What is wrong that makes it necessary to do so?

i never had something different, konqueror always behaved this way on pclinux for me, dolphin is the same

no idea it could be different, one of those things that you need but if it is not there, you don't worry

My guess is that this is related to the same bug that is also present in folder view (..and other..) plasmoids;  apparently the plasmoid refresh bug is suppose to be addressed in kde 4.5
