no sound, acer aspire one pclinuxos openbox.(solved)
« on: May 20, 2010, 11:17:27 AM »
The other day I installed the openbox flavor of pclinux os aand found that there is no sound but everything else appears to work. It shows the right driver and that loaded.I have tried going into sound config thinking that It would be an easy fix put it is beyond my ability and I have searched the net but have not found anything helpful. I do not have it with me but when I can I will try to give more details.

thanks.

Which model is it? I have the Acer Aspire One D250. What is yours?
There is no shame in saying "I don't know".

I just went through this with my Gateway netbook which is made by Acer. I had sound if I used head phones but nothing through the speakers. I Googled this and checked the forums here and nothing worked. I finally installed qmixer and found that the speaker volume was turned down. Turned it max and used the Master volume to adjust volume.

I have LXDE on my netbook

In the openbox desktop in the upper right corner you have a speaker icon.If you right click it a menu is available and one of the entries in the menu is the mixer.Click the mixer and you ey the mixer with about 5 or 6 channels.Use th left and right keys to select the channel you wish to adjust and the up and down keys to make the adjustments.

The problem with mine was that by default the volume was very low on the master and speaker volume. When I increased the volume my speaker came alive.
