Garbled sound in skype
« on: May 19, 2010, 12:05:23 AM »
Hi,

I am struggling with my skype in PCLinuxOS-Gnome.  I managed to get my headset going, but every time I do a test call in skype the following happens:

- I hear the instructions clear.
- I add my mutterings.
- My mutterings are replayed and are garbled (pieces appear to be missing...)
- I hear the final comments of the instruction voice clear.

When I do it again even the instructions become garbled.

I tried it with a als4000 sound card and with the on board C97 sound.  Same problems.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

To add to above:

I have uninstalled, reinstalled etc pulseaudio several times.

I ran alsaconf on all sound setups

No joy...

I just want to inform all and sundry that I just chatted to a friend in skype quiet nicely.  The problem?  It was in Phoenix.

Now I might cross the river to Phoenix one day, but I certainly would like now to get this working in Gnome.

Anyway - I thought I mention this to cut out the hardware component for good.
