2.3 no longer provides a wma plugin.

Will the wma plugin that is used in 2.1 still work for 2.3?

I just checked synaptic and if I install 2.3, it does not remove the wma plugin that is there for 2.1.

Don't want to lose that just to get some undefined "improvement" in 2.3.

a option is convert wma to mp3, ogg or flac

can't remember what app can do this, mp3 is the usual choice

Moving this to software discussion as it is not a broken package but an update to an old package that had more functionality.

but it was broken and now it doesn't  :D

doing a search on their forum this is happening since version 2.2, we had version 2.1 for almost one year?

http://boards.audacious-media-player.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=55&p=154&hilit=wma#p154

it is mentioned this package audacious-plugins-freeworld-wma-2.1-1.fc12.i686 that seems to be compatible with audacious 2.3 but seems to be done by a "third party" so maybe development stopped for this not that popular anymore fileformat

fortunately there is options in pclinux, audacious is not the only audio player and still those files can be converted with the proper tool, i believe that even vlc can do it
