(SOLVED) Printer Setup in Phoenix

After spending a lot of time considering three PCLOS desktops, Phoenix is now my first choice. It works well from the LiveCD except that I cannot setup my printer. With KDE and LXDE, the LiveCD asks if I want to have "Printerdrake" set up my printer. Phoenix doesn't. This seems like an odd thing to leave out. The MD5 sum for the download matches in k3b and everything else on the LiveCD that I've tried (except for downloads like OOo) appear to work.

After I've installed Phoenix, I trust that I'll find that the devs have made sure that the PCLinux wrench and whatever icon (it's really tiny on my screen) will present with the facility to install my PRINTER and scanner. Since I do not have a scanner, that's irrelevant. The LiveCD only provides the option of installing a scanner.

I'm sure the printer installation magically appears with a full install. However, verification of this would be appreciated so I don't spend anywhere from ten minutes to an hour (whatever time frame is required) and end up without a printer installation.

Phoenix, being a light desktop for Intermediate to Advanced users does not have printerdrake installed by default.  Install it from the synaptic package manager and it will be in PCC (PCLinuxOS control center - on the taskbar) right where it should be.

Open Synaptic Software Manager, Press Reload to get current file list. Click on Search. Type printerdrake. Right click and mark for installation. Press Apply. Close Synaptic Software Manager, Open Configure your Computer -> Hardware - Setup Printer.

Thank you Joble and Texstar. I was sure that there was something different to do but my search didn't turn up anything concrete. I guess I just looked in the wrong place. (I do try to follow the forum rules...)

Phoenix LiveCd, which is still running, will now go to work to install it to my system.

Under pressure, KDE 4.4.3 was installed but I am going to use the "task" function from Synaptic and set up Phoenix for my personal use. I will then download "Printerdrake" and have my printer working as per Joble's and Texstar's responses. Then everyone here will be able to chose which flavour of PCLinuxOS to run when they sign on.

Choices are great, eh?

Two things. 

One, if you install kde and add task-xfce to it, printerdrak is already there I think.
Two, There are some default setting on the Phoenix taskbar setup  for Phoenix that will not show up automagically in task-xfce, not to mention the awesome graphic themes that come on the CD.

Other than that, if you prefer the Xfce desktop environment but want libs and tools from other desktops and don't mind losing a lot of diskspace for stuff you might never use,  Yeah Choice is Freaking Awesome!  I've got four task-desktops installed on my netbook, and loving every one of them.

One other point ... don't forget to go into the Xfce Settings Manager > Printing, and set it to CUPS. Otherwise, xfprint won't know where/how to send the print command.
