SOLVED Key on Keyboard typing wrong characters -
« on: May 16, 2010, 04:38:13 PM »
I'm trying to take a look at Phoenix today and I am having a problem in that the one key above my right ENTER key is not correct.  It produces the following two keystrokes for lower case then upper case:

   # ~   where the key itself shows a backslash and a vertical line

Since I am trying to type a command in terminal I need the vertical line key.  I selected the default "US Keyboard layout" at startup.    Just noticed as I typed the above line that the quotes key doesn't work either.  I had to find the " by using the upper case of the letter 2.   The key itself shows that to be @.

Why is the keyboard not working correctly ?

I used to think I knew a lot about computers until I started using Linux.  Now I feel my age...

You seem to have picked a UK keyboard layout instead of a US one. Did you select it in "Configure Your Computer" (PCC) or somewhere else? You should change it in the same place.

Thanks it looks like I was selecting the default in error.
