If I understand correctly what tim has put together is different in that he does not have the task oriented desktops, but does have most every desktop environment included is his iso.
100% Correct. That is what i did.
Actually is all started with my dad. He is kinda interested in linux and i have been downloading a lot of distros just before pclos 2010 release (about January i think). But none, NONE were suitable for me. Some were hard to understand, but some had nothing in them, just this and that.
After the release of pclos 2010, my first goal was to download and install all the packages possible and and remaster it. And even give it a go to other pc's and other "Windows haters". My dad is a XP-ian (sorry that is not in the dictionary, but glued to XP). He even doesn't like 7 because it bogs down small systems.
PCLOS was customizable. If you have the talent to create and tweak it you can make it a super distro.
Unfortunately i can't run this on the Dell C810 1.3 GHz 256RAM machine. So i tried Puppy Linux. Pretty good distro. in 100MB you have pretty lot of apps to run basically. and can boot faster and keep it running in RAM. That is like a wonder distro. And Dad was impressed, totally in awe how fast it was. We don't have SSD but it is like a temporary SSD for us. Blazing fast.
Interestingly the torrent i have uploaded has caught fire. But thing is can't upload at full speed. Sticking to the topic, I want people around the world to know that there is a "contender for Windows"
and it is totally free. And that is Linux.
