Wireless connection not detected at times
« on: May 15, 2010, 07:30:08 PM »
Running a Dell XPS 1210.

Setup a wireless connection in 2010 kde during install. Was able to run the system on the wireless connection on subsequent boot.

On shutting down and rebooting after a couple of hours, the same wireless connection is not detected.

The wireless switch is always in an "on" position.

Shut down and on restarting an hour or so later, the laptop detected and connected to the same wireless point.

On subsequent reboots, it sometimes detects and at other times, it shows the same wireless point as not available.

This is the result of the iwconfig scan:

lo         no wireless extensions.

eth0      no wireless extensions.

wlan0    IEEE 802.11abg  Mode:Managed  Access Point: Not-Associated
            Tx-Power=12 dBm
            Retry  long limit:7   RTS thr:off   Fragment thr:off
            Power Management:off

pan0      no wireless extensions.

There is no problem with the router since I have checked to see if the problem is at the router end. It is "seen" by other devices when the laptop shows no wireless access availability.
