Printer And Mouse Issue
« on: May 14, 2010, 03:34:47 PM »
I am/was having a couple issues since installing PCLOS 2010 on my machine.  The first issue had to do with my Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard.  The mouse response was very sporadic.  Sometimes I could put it on a mouse pad and it worked slightly better, but not much.  The second issue has to do with my printer.  It is an HP Color LaserJet CP1518ni.  When installing it, PCLOS partially detects it and sets up what seems to be the proper driver for it.  However, whenever I print anything it comes out inverted.  Here is a link to a photo which shows what I am talking about...  http://www.flickr.com/photos/50179588@N07/4606911441/#

Yesterday I updated my kernel to 2.6.33.4-pclos1.bfs (from 2.6.32.11-pclos2.bfs).  This seems to have corrected my mouse issues.  It is responding nicely to my movements with no sporadic behavior.  I was hopeful that maybe the new kernel would improve my printer issue as well.  However, it seems to have gotten even worse.  When I attempted to print out a document, nothing is sent to the printer.  I decided to remove the driver via PCC and re-install it.  This time, I can not find the printer at all.  Anyone have an idea what might be going on?  I forgot to mention that the printer is connected to my network (not locally).

Setup the printer by hand, not automatic, on a lpt port. After setup change the port to the TCP/Socket, HP jetdirect IP address.
Your printer is available in PCLos.

Thanks.  I was able to set up the printer manually, but it's still printing inversely (which is not only hard to read, it uses a lot more of my black ink).  I really need to get this one figured out since I can't really print anything until I do.

I am still having this issue and it's getting a little frustrating now.  Do any of the devs have some input as to what may be going on?  One interesting thing I noticed tonight.  If I set the driver to print greyscale, it prints normally (minus the color of course).  When I set the driver back to the color setting, my pages print inversely like shown in my original post.  So it seems something is going on with the color settings in the driver.

The good news is that there were updates to the HP printer drivers today which seem to have fixed this issue.  My printouts are as they should be now, instead of inverse.  My only disappointment is that I reported this issue back on May 14, so I haven't really been able to print from my machine for over 2 months.  I've never had an issue before that went this long without at least a little input from one of the devs.  Oh well, I'm happy to be able to print.  I'm a happy camper.

No worries Tex.  I have been, and will continue to be a STRONG supporter of PCLOS.  I'm not sure who Till is, but I sincerely thank him/her.  :)
