[chuck@localhost ~]$ thunderbird
MozPlugger: Error: Failed to execute m4.
Mozplugger: M4 parsing of config generated error
[chuck@localhost ~]$

This above is the error I get when starting t-bird form the CL,

Below ,from t-bird tools error console, this is in 2010 updated

Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure
code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIDOMXULDocument.loadOverlay]"
nsresult: "0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE)"  location: "JS frame ::
chrome://global/content/bindings/preferences.xml :: showPane :: line
711"  data: no]

I get a "failure to connect to pop3", I tryed to setup both ways ,  this is done with manual setup ,auto  setup was worse

TIA
Chuck

Chuck,

I am getting the 2010.1 iso now , something about this not right , have to use the file menu to close the pages ,
I will do the reinstall with 2010.1 and see what happens , first time for everything I guess  ::)

Good luck, Chuck!!  ;)

Suggest you do a clean install and a new formatted /home partition (much less problematic)

Oh, and do an md5sum and media check on the iso/CD (burn CD at low speed)

Chuck hope you get T-bird figured out.  I've never had a problem with T-bird, using the new "Shredder" version now, my wife will use no other.  Sounds more like a configuration/set up issue to me.  Maybe search the T-bird support over on Mozilla site as well.

-regards

That means normally that your pop3 address is not correct.  I am not sure this would be thunderbirds fault.

I know you hate to hear this - but it works splendid this side with different pop3 servers used.

I don't use TBird so not sure whether it can import email account settings from other email apps. If it can, and KMail is working okay could you import the KMail accounts into TBird ?

Not sure - I moved from one TBird account to another one.  This is as easy as copy and paste....

But if Kmail can export into mbox or another useful format, I can not see that you can not import your mail.

try renaming or deleting the .thunderbird dir in your home directory and setup thunderbird fresh and see if your situation improves. But the problem does lie in configuration of pop3 it seems so you may want to double check the correct pop3 settings with your email services help files.

I wish I could set up POP3. My ISP is moving to IMAP which Thunderbird now defaults to, I was given a choice before!  I've tried to setup POP3 but the ISP (TELUS) servers won't (or don't) open the ports for POP3.  I don't know, maybe they want to move everybody over and use the type of  Email client to determine whether you can move to IMAP.  I had set a client up with PCLOS 2010 a few months ago using POP3 and now she is having issues.

Not saying that this is your issue,  but, the ISP's can make any configuration changes that they want, at any time....  Probably not the Linux box.

And don't get me started on IPV6!!!
