Summary: PCLOS 2010 KDE Live CD requires 1GB RAM

Boot Live CD, works!

It logs me on as guest. I click the PCC icon select network, setup a new connection, wireless, etc.

All seems to work, I get to congrat message, then KDE desktop disappears, I'm left with the PCC window and another window showing me the netapplet signal strength (should have been in the task bar)

To give better context, this machine is running pclos 2009 with no issues.

Have you checked to make sure you downloaded a good copy? md5sum the iso? Did you burn the CD as the lowest speed. ie 8-12x?

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

The file I used is  pclinuxos-kde-2010.iso 94f3bea75aa9bec77f0721d8c406c588
I ripped the CD I used and the image off of the CD has the same checksum

K3b says:

Volume Id: livecd 2010041905:27
Publisher Id: http://pclinuxos.com/
Preparer Id: mylivecd 0.9.0

I downloaded a fresh copy from http://pclinuxos.com/?page_id=180  (the get pclos page)
This one says:
Volume Id: livecd 2010050419:32
Preparer Id: mylicecd 0.9.1
Md5 sUm: d2f8c4068a0d07c3fc4a1dcc252310da

The check sum matches the one published by the above page.

I repeated the experiment: boot off of the CD login connect to wifi.

This time, however, I first opened a Konsole window, in it switch to root, start pcc, and in pcc, opened network center,  chose the wifi network interface, clicked Refresh, which displayed my local wifi AP, selected it, clicked Connect.

While it connected fine, KDE crashed, however, I was left with the Konsole window so I could examine the logs

Running dmesg you can see that it ran out of memory.  Below is an excerpt. If anyone is interested in the entire log I could post that too.

Just for kicks I tried the CD on a nearly identical machine that has 1GB of RAM and it worked fine.

Looks like live CD with KDE4 requires 1GB RAM.
