Live pclos 2010 - adjust date and time dialog crashes
« on: May 13, 2010, 01:44:24 PM »
So I know this laptop works with 2009.

Booting 2010 of off the CD, works!
It automatically logs me in as a guest.

Screen resolution is wrong, circles look like oval. Right click the desktop to get to setting menu... it's not there. Ah, KDE4... ok will get to this later.

Timezone is incorrect, right click the clock in the task bar, select Adjust date and time, the dialog opens.

I want to just check Set date and time automatically, however, I notice wifi does not work, so I try manually...

Click time zone tab, select LA, click OK. The Authenticate dialog opens up, asks for the root password.  I type in the live cd root password, click OK, the dialog disappears, the Adjust date and time dialog also disappears.  Time has not changed.

I repeat the above... this time I wait a bit at the Authenticate dialog. After couple seconds it crashes.

That's not a good experience. I hope it's not what usually happens when you try to adjust these things from the desktop.

I usually start by setting the time in PCC and only then repeating it in the clock settings. This always works for me. Of course, when I say usually and always, it's something I only do once when I install so I've only done it about half a dozen times in three years, mostly in virtual machines.

run the live cd and install pxlinuxos...
then, you'ĺl be able to take care of time, screen resolution and so on...
