asdfchanta,

You may find it helpful to check out the last several issues of the PCLinuxOS Magazine. There, we've been covering KDE 4, and how to customize it to your heart's content.

I believe this is really a good idea, but instead of putting it in a thread such as this, it should be the requirement to list all this information in the various screenshot threads. Just my .02
Desktop1: AMD64 8450 [3 core]; 8GB; 3.2.18-pclos2.pae.bfs; KDE
Desktop2: AMD64 5400 [8 core]; 16GB; 3.2.16-a64; KDE
Netbook: EeePC 901; Atom N270; 1GB; 2.6.33.7-pclos6.bfs; KDE

Requirement? No way! If we did that, no one would bother to share their screenshots. Furthermore, that type of information does not have universal appeal. I know there are users who don't know even half of that information, yet they share their screenshots. That information, typically, is of more interest to more advanced users. Those users already know how to tailor their desktops, and we shouldn't block others users who aren't as technically savvy from sharing their desktops, just because of some "requirement" that has exceptionally little benefit to anyone else.

Sorry.... just trying to help those that enjoy the creation of others... once that wheel has been made it seems to me to be helpful so others can recreate it.

I understand what you are saying, and that those "less-technically-savvy" users can benefit by learning how to do something new.

Yet, I see it as posing a barrier to those particular users for posting their screenshots when there is a requirement to provide that information.

As it is now, those "less-technically-savvy" users can ask in the open forum about how to do that (and there are always plenty of other users willing to help them figure it out), or the original poster can be PM'd with the question.

I say, share the screenshots! After all, it should be a fun thing ... and typically is! Let's not turn it into a chore.
