Kdenetwork4 Provides
« on: May 12, 2010, 05:52:20 AM »
According to the details in Synaptic ........

Quote
K Desktop Environment - Network Applications
Networking applications for the K Desktop Environment.

- kdict: graphical client for the DICT protocol.
- kit: AOL instant messenger client, using the TOC protocol
- kpf: public fileserver applet
- krfb: Desktop Sharing server, allow others to access your desktop via VNC
- krdc: a client for Desktop Sharing and other VNC servers

...... KPF is provided in this package.

Is it actually provided?
If so what is it called please?

I cannot find it.

regards.

Not on my system but maybe you could see if you have this:
Kepas

http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=73968

Looks like a plasmoid, you should be able to get it installed.

Thanks Joble ........  seems it is the information provided in Synaptic that needs to be changed so.

Do I need to do a Package Request or is this already being considered do you know?

It's up to the kde developers I think.  It hasn't been ported over to kde4 as far as I can tell.  A package suggest here would probably not help much.   :(

Maybe a request for Kepas but since it's a plasmoid can't be gotten through the add new plasmoids/widgets function?  If I find the time I'll give it a try but I got a lot on my plate right now.

I meant the Kepas package rather than the old KPF.

I failed to find it using the "install new widget" means.

Maybe you will have better luck when you get the time.

Thanks.

Well I downloaded it and you're right, kde add plasmoid does not recognize it.  Not that I doubted you, just wanted to see for myself.  Might wanna put it in package suggest.  I'll look at it, but if I can't build it, it will be ignored here most likely.  Might wanna make an official request for it.   :)

You would be right to doubt me in this - particularly as I have no idea how those things work or are supposed to be installed or anything else about them to be truthful.   :D

Thanks for checking it out.
