Audacity in PCLinuxOS 2010, verses Win-7-pro
« on: May 10, 2010, 12:54:18 AM »
My desktop computer with windows7pro just will not record off my usb record player.

But my MSI ms-163k laptop with PCLOS does the job.  Had to fiddle with the settings a bit.  In Preferences/Recording, unchecked Overdub and Software Playthrough.  In Devices, changed Host from OSS to ALSA, Playback from default to actual speakers (hda intel...), Recording from default to USB Audio CODEC.

The downside is having to uncheck "software playthrough".  So I hooked up a cheap amped computer speaker to the usb record player output speaker jacks, and heard the song's progress from there.

Ripping my records to mp3 is cool....but you need lame installed.

My player...
