How to install KDE version of PCLOS if you have at least 512Meg of RAM

I have Pclos 2010 KDE on a PC with 521M of RAM. Now the live CD took forever to load when  wanted to see how 2010 would do in this PC.
Installation However is a different & happier story. Some might have figured this out ,but I'm writing this post for those that want the KDE version but haven't figured it out.
The way to do this is
1.Load in your KDE version of the Live CD
2.Once it's got all of the icons in both Desktop & panel, with the systray too, Right click & remove everything except the Kickoff (Kmenu) & the Install Pclos Icon
3.Click the install icon give the root password which will be "root" of course then the install starts

I did this & the install took about 30 min. When completed a full & fully operational KDE desktop was the result, no problems. WFM YMMV

Yes, I installed PCLinuxOS 2010 on a laptop with 512Mb RAM. I think it was the horrid CD drive in it as much as anything. But once installed, it was fine. Normally I do the "Add Locale" before I install, but I thought better of it. It was a case of Insert CD, Boot, Connect Wireless (to make sure it will), Do Nothing Else, Install, Reboot, THEN Add Locale, OpenOffice, etc.

Is the reason for removing the icons etc to release more memory to the system?

If that's the reason, and it works, that's a very clever little trick - I applaud you

I can't try it right now but isn't there a light basic X desktop which can be selected before you log in? In these cases it would be very helpful.

I did install PCLOS 2009 KDE 3.5 on a system with 128MB RAM but it needed a lot of swap. But after installation it was million times faster.

When installing PCLinuxOS 2010 at boot of your livecd select Console >> log in as root (or guest) >> "startx --" >> a light X server should start >> draklive-install and just "follow the sign"
