What Version of PCLOS 2010 KDE Do I Have Installed? [SOLVED]

I know....that sounds like a really dumb question, but here's why I'm asking it.  I have a bunch of computers that I installed PCLOS 2010 KDE to.  I tested beta1, beta2 and installed the 4/15/10 "Final" version, and the 4/19/10 "Final" 2010.1 version.

I did not keep good records and now when I boot up a computer, I'm not sure if I have beta1, beta2, 4/15 or 4/19 running on it.  How do I tell?

I want to replace any beta versions with the Final.  And is it worth replacing the 4/15 version with the 4/19 version, or did updates take care of any differences?

The 19th essentially differs only in that it has the .bfs kernel whereas the 15th only had a plain one, so you can fix that (if it matters) by installing the later kernel.

Check the KDE version. Final had 4.2.2. I think the betas all had earlier versions (unless you upgraded them).

The kernel in final was compiled on 7th April, which I think is after beta 2 came out, so Joble probably has the answer there.

While this will not solve your current issue, for the future you might "Modify" the Grub menu entry name during the install process to read as the name of the PCLinuxOS release version and kernel so you will then know what you are installing and thus where you started.  Then as you go forward and update your install, you will at least know where you started.  Then as Joble noted, updates will keep you to the latest version (except for the kernel which will have to be installed separately, and will give you a separate Grub entry).

You know putz, normally I do just that.  Normally I have a dual or triple boot situation and so I change the "menu.lst" file with all the ID data.  But this time I just put in a different HDD (or started a new VM), installed the beta or final for testing, and didn't modify anything on most of them.  Good lesson here for sure.

OK, I think with your help I've got it figured.  The "uname -a" information provides the kernel version and the compile date (I think).

2.6.32.11-pclos2.bfs (kernel version compiled on 4/7)  ==>  4/15 & 4/19 Final 2010

2.6.32.10-pclos2.bsf (kernel version compiled on 3/15) ==> 2010 Beta2

I can check my "menu.lst" file to see when it was modified.  If before 4/19, then it was probably the 4/15 Final.  If was 4/19 or later, it was the 4/19 Final since I remember downloading it on 4/19.

And since you've assured me that there is no significant difference between the 4/15 Final and the 4/19 Final, I won't worry about reinstalling any of the 4/15 Final installations.

Thanks melodie & coffeetime.  I found another thread that talked about "sysinfo".  It's in the repo.  Once installed, you can enter "sysinfo:/" w/o the quotes in Konqueror and it will give you the following info:
