what is the best wsiwyg html editor
« on: May 09, 2010, 11:45:25 AM »
Guys,

I need to do some HTML editing and this is not my thing.

I've managed to get something out in a text editor but I need something a bit more aligned to HTML.

I don't really want to start a new language/jargon learning curve.

Normally I'm a command line junkie but style sheets etc. leave me cold. :(

HTML creation is/should be a gui thing. Any ideas? ::)

Its been awhile since I've used one (even the "good" ones made messy code), but it seemed like Kompozer and Quanta Plus are popular choices.  Quanta Plus is part of one of the KDE packages..  I'll have to do some searching to figure out which one.

Thanks Travis,

I've been using Komposer with a little success. Will look for Quanta.

Damn your eyes Tim Berners-Lee for my troubles, and thank you for your contribution to society. ;)

It seems you replied as I was editing my last post...  anyway, more info regarding Qanta+:

Quanta+ was part of kdewebdev package, but it has not yet been ported to KDE4 (it is not in the kdewebdev4 package).

...when it is ported it doesn't look like it will support WYSIWYG editing:

If it is something you do alot, you might consider keeping a KDE3 install in a Virtual Machine just to run Quanta+ (..use the KDE3 repo that was "frozen").

If it is a small change, post some info...  I'm sure we could probably help you out.

Thanks again for the reply Travis
This is something that I rarely do, hence the need for wysiwyg, I go dizzy looking at all those < /> pairs.

The kde3 Idea is a good one however and I shall look at Quanta there.

I still have a kde3 system and my own local 'frozen' repository.
My kde3 system is like that old coat or pair of slippers that you just know you should have thrown out but you are glad that you didn't.
Especially in this case ;D

Thank you for your input, much appreciated. ;)
