I had ZynAddSubFX 2.4.0-1pclos2010 installed, but the upgrade to KDE4.4.3 replaced it with 2.2.1-5pclos2007. I can't install the newer one because of unmet dependencies, which are not detailed. If I uninstalled the older version would this change anything or is there a dependency problem in the repository?

There is no ZynAddSubFX-2.2.1-5pclos2007 in the 2010 repository so you must be confused.

Open Synaptic and look at the kde packages installed there. Make sure the version really is 4.4.3 and not 4.3.4!

If the latter, back up all your data before doing anything else. Then make sure there is only one mirror selected and that it is pointing to 2010 and not 2007! You never know, it might recover.

If not you will have to reinstall.

The 2010 repo should only have the 2010 version in it.  I just checked at pclosusers and it only has one.

http://spout.ussg.indiana.edu/array2/linux/pclinuxos/pclinuxos/apt/pclinuxos/2010/RPMS.main/ZynAddSubFX-2.4.0-1pclos2010.i586.rpm

Only one.  The only way you could possibly see both is if you have the 2007 repo enabled as well.  In which case you might as well reinstall cause yer hosed.

Wow, actually you are correct:
http://ftp.vim.org/ftp/metalab/distributions/texstar/pclinuxos/apt/pclinuxos/2010/RPMS.main/zynaddsubfx-2.2.1-5pclos2007.i586.rpm

One is caps and one is not.  Which is why I wasn't finding it.  :P  But you are correct, they are both in the 2010 repo.

Joble, there are the following in the pclosusers.com RPMS.main folder

zynaddsubfx-2.2.1-5pclos2007.i586.rpm
ZynAddSubFX-2.4.0-1pclos2010.i586.rpm

I reloaded 2 different repos, each the only one enabled, double checked for 'overlap' in
/var/lib/apt/lists, the lists were updated correctly. Both repos have two versions of zynaddsubfx.

BTW there have been two versions of Zyn... in the repos (2007-2009) for quite some time. I'm quite mad. And I'm using the PASS server, too. However, that doesn't solve the dependency problem. I'll delete the old version and see if I can install the new one. I'll report back.

Removing the old version, then installing the new version worked. The old version has been removed from the PASS server and perhaps by now or soon will vanish from the other repositories as they update mirror.

https://launchpad.net/~autostatic/+archive/ppa/+packages

here you will find recent versions of the great phasex synth, and rakarrack multi-fx to augment
zynaddsubfx

to convert the .deb file to rpm,

alien -r phasex_0.12.0-pre1~autostatic0_i386.deb

to install,

rpm -i phasex-0.12.0-1.i386.rpm

well worth the effort!
